Food & Bodies
I have extensive training and experience working with folks with eating disorders and complicated relationships with food and with their bodies. I practice from a Health at Every Size perspective, which means that I do not believe that weight is an accurate measure of one's overall health or well-being. We can be healthy in all shapes and sizes, and weight is rarely the best predictor. That being said, I work with many folks who feel left behind or left out of the body acceptance movement, and who might not feel "healthy" due to physical pain or discomfort, distress about how the world responds to them and to their body, and who do have concerns about their physical health. I view my role as collaborative and not prescriptive - you get to decide, in consultation with the folks and providers you trust, what it means to be well. I don't want to add another voice to the chorus of people telling you how you are supposed to eat, move, and think. This is your process, and I want to support you in finding a connected, loving relationship with your body as it carries you through the world.
